Toleeto P. "Toe" Rivers

Toleeto P. Rivers (Toe) was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on August 14, 1950 to the late Sidney Rivers & Julia B. Rivers. Toe was the youngest daughter of a total of 19 children. She was educated in the Chesterfield, South Carolina School System and dedicated her life to the Lord and was baptized at an early age. In 1973 she initially made Michigan her home and spent many years working for Ford Motor Company then later returned to North Carolina. Thereafter, Toe was a loving caregiver to many of her siblings. The Lord saw fit to relocate her back to Michigan in 2006 where she resided with her sister Margaret Jean Ratliff. Toe never met a stranger and anyone that met her instantly loved her. She had a heart of "gold" with a smile that lit up the room. Toe was a very loving person, she was outgoing and was willing to share any and everything she had with her family and friends. She loved cooking for her family and also enjoyed bringing them together for dinners. She was always the life of the party, and her famous saying was "the party didn't start until she walked in"! She was very passionate and had a "special" relationship with all her nieces and nephews especially her great-niece Sydney Brown. Truly Sydney was her "baby" and also her inspiration! We thank God for the privilege of having her in our lives on borrowed time. Toleeto was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. She leaves to cherish in her loving memory 5 brothers and sisters; Maxie (Savalia) Rivers of Port Huron, Dianne (James) Hines of Charlotte, North Carolina, Margaret Jean Ratliff of New Haven, Julia Abner of Mt. Clemens and Charles (Shirley) Rivers of Chesterfield, a special friend and "road dog" Edwina Johnson along with her special friend Dave White. She also had a host of nieces & nephews who loved her dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday 3/11 from 1200 (noon) until 800pm at Jowett Funeral Home - 57737 Gratiot Ave, New Haven and again on Saturday 3/12 from 1100am until the time of the church services at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday 3/12 at 1200pm (noon) at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church - 58527 Delanie St., New Haven, Reverend John L. Mack will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at the Centennial Cemetary in New Haven. Paulbearers will be: DeMarco Ratliff, Darius Ratliff, Jawuan Doggett, Kyle Rivers, Jay Young Jr. and Jordan Young. Honorary Paulbearers are: Louis Brown, Jay Young Sr., Wayne Phillips, Luther Jeffrey Rogan, Terrence Bingham, Anthony Bittle, Chris Davis, Derek Davis, and Demetrius Davis. Memorial tributes can be made to wishes of the family. Acknowledgements: The family of the late Toletto P.
