Patricia R. Brown

Patricia R. “Pat” Brown, age 75, of Fort Gratiot Twp., unexpectedly passed away on March 26, 2025. Born on July 18, 1949, in Windsor, Ontario to the late Karl and Eva Caughill, she leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, laughter and adventure. She shared 45 years together with the love of her life, Paul J. “Jerry” Brown Jr., who she married on September 26, 1987, in Port Huron, honoring 37 years of marriage, and building a lifetime of cherished memories. Pat was well known throughout the community as a great friend and gracious host. Her house was a meeting place for all her out of town relatives, where she would host days- long “Yahtzee-Fests” filled with camaraderie, laughter and joy. She loved the summer, often found outside “playing in the garden”, delighting in the company of her Great Danes most recently “Grayson” and enjoying weekly Sunday rides on the Harley with her husband. The absolute highlight of her summers was the “traditional road trip” to the casino, she would take with her lifelong friend, Tammy Dodson. Pat was a familiar face at the VFW Post 796 and Active Lounge, where alongside her husband, she would shoot on several pool leagues with her cousins Rose (Paul) Stevens, Joy (Kevin) Hill, nephew, Ashton Potter, and many other family members, old and new found friends. Pat also frequented the original Zebra Bowl-O-Drome and Port Huron Lanes, where she was an active member of the local bowling scene, alongside her family and many of her friends. She wasn’t just a patron at these establishments, she found both purpose and joy in her work as a waitress and bartender. Starting at the Zebra Bar Bowl-O-Drome, Pat worked for Ernie and Dominic Cocoa, for over 20 years, before moving to Port Huron Lanes, where she worked for many years. She especially found great joy on Thursday nights, fondly waiting on the Men’s Classic League and her favorites, the original Cowboy and Indians, a rowdy bunch she treasured deeply. She would often comment that “the boys” were in rare form tonight. Saturday mornings were also a delight for her, serving the children’s leagues while also cheering on her grandchildren. She finished off her career at the VFW, when opportunity came knocking at her door (much to her husband’s amazement) where her new boss advised her that she would report to work the following Monday at 4:00pm. There she spent her time working alongside Tammy Dodson, volunteering her time, rolling balls on Friday and making sliders on Saturdays, for special events when needed and with the help of her special sisters-in-law, rocking the monthly bake sale, and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She often referred to the crowd as “her peeps” and cherished her time with and serving such a great bunch of people. Patricia is survived by a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly. Including her soulmate, Paul J. “Jerry” Brown Jr., grandchildren; Cody (Sarah) Michael Brown, Chance LaRose, Kaylee Brown, great grandchildren; Samuel Dax Brown, Simon Paul Brown, mother in-law, Maxine Brown, brothers in-law and sisters in-law; “Sissy” Ruth Hunter, Brenda (Bret) Stoliker, Karen (Michael) Potter, Daniel (Denise) Caughill, Kim Brown, Leslie Brown, Tony Gatt, several nieces, nephews and very special lifelong friend ,Tammy (Skip) Dodson. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brown, sister, Sue Gatt, great friend, Sandra Withun, and father in-law, Paul J. Brown. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
