Mary Ann Brewer

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mary Ann (Roy) Brewer, a loving mother, wife, Nona and friend to countless people. Mary was born December 26, 1964 to Edward and Catherine (Tootsie) Roy. She grew up in East Detroit with her brother Michael and sister Kathy. Everyone loved the Roy’s, loved being around them as they were a fun, loving family who always put a smile on your face when you were with them. Mary’s life was like a Lifetime movie, filled with perseverance, incredible love stories and a life well lived. While growing up in East Detroit, Mary met her soul mate James Brewer. They were young, fell in love and had a precious baby girl, Jenny. With circumstances beyond their control Mary would raise Jenny independently until she met John Haas. Mary went on to marry John and spend 17 wonderful years together until his untimely passing. While devastating as this was Mary’s strong personality, love and support from family and friends she persevered through life. During this time Mary would see her daughter get married to Tim Belusar and have two children of her own, Canon and Ben. The love Mary had for her grandkids was beautiful to watch. She lived for spoiling them, sleep overs at Nona’s house and watching them play sports. With an incredible twist of fate, Mary would reunite with her first love, James. In 2015 they would marry and share a once in a lifetime kind of love. They loved spending time with their daughter and their grandkids. They loved to travel, enjoy good food, family, friends and their dogs, Jack and Piper who were everything to them. Mary was fiercely loyal to her family, friends and employers. She spent over 20 years at Production Tool Supply and spent the last 3 years at Griggs Steel Company. The coworkers from Production Tool Supply became loyal and lifelong friends as with those she met at Griggs Steel Company. Those that met Mary felt as though they knew her for their entire life and that is a testament of the wonderful person Mary was. Mary leaves behind many friends and family who all had a long friendship with her. They will miss going up north with her, casino trips, going out to eat, dinners at her house where Mary would love to make her famous homemade meatballs and pasta. No dinner was ever complete without dessert. Mary loved dessert and her chocolate. A common theme from loved ones is Mary’s love of chocolate and peanut butter. You would always find Mary in one of her countless baseball caps and bandannas. It’s no wonder you would see Mary in a comfy hoodie sweatshirt as Mary was like a cozy blanket, someone who made you feel loved and happy to be around. Mary was sassy yet sweet and funny. We also share with you that Mary loved long car rides, getting ice cream, working out, frozen cokes, lottery tickets, tattoos, euchre, and was passionate about being Italian. Mary passed away on January 6, 2021 at 56 years old, she has been taken from us too soon. We were not ready to see her go. She leaves behind a hole in each of our lives. We ask for prayers of comfort and support to her incredible husband James, her devoted daughter Jenny, her husband Tim and those little boys Canon and Ben. They are numb with grief and it’s difficult for them to imagine a life without our Mary. We all feel the same way. Mary was full of life and love. She was so happy in life so it’s devastating to everyone to no longer have her with us. Mary’s legacy will live on through her family and those who were lucky to call her a friend. We will never understand why Mary had to leave us so soon; however, we find comfort in knowing she is up in heaven with her Mom, Dad, brother, sister and her beloved dogs Maddie and Little Bit. As Canon and Ben go through life, we feel grateful for the guardian angel who will watch over them and shed her light upon them. The memories of their Nona will never fade as we will make sure to always remind them of our Mary and how much she loved them. In honor of Mary, we ask that you give an extra hug to your loved ones and an extra treat to your pets. She cared and loved dogs so deeply so if you would like to donate to an animal shelter or rescue in Mary’s name, we know Mary would love that.
