Joseph P. Martindale

.Joseph Patrick Martindale, age 94 of Inverness, Florida, formerly of Marysville, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1931 in Port Huron to the late Joseph N. Martindale and Lillian M. Martindale. Joe was a long-time educator with the Port Huron Area School District and was the Program Director for the Port Huron Alternative Center. He was active in the real estate market. He would purchase and renovate homes for low-income families. Joe served as a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Member, was a member of the PHEA, NEA and BAA Associations. Joe served in the National Guard for a brief period of time. He coached little league baseball for the City of Marysville and was an active board member at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Marysville. Joe considered his greatest accomplishment to be working with children and helping them to become citizens contributing as constructive members of society. Joe would never allow a student to go hungry or without winter attire. He also paid tuition for students who attended SC4, who demonstrated the desire and ability to accomplish their goals. Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara K. Martindale, daughter, Patricia A. (Martindale) Crozier, grandsons; Stephen P. (Audra L.) Young, Nathaniel J. Young, and Bradford I. (Rilee N.) Young, great grandchildren; Michael J. Young, Brendan A. Young, Natalee C. M. Young, former son-in-law, Stephen R. Young, along with several nieces and nephews, and dear friend, Robert H. Yono. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine A. Martindale, his brothers; Peter A. Martindale and Eugene A. Martindale, and son-in-law, Lawrence R. Crozier. Funeral services will be held on Thursday – December 4, 2025 at 11:00am in the Holy Trinity Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church – 1331 7th Street, Port Huron. Father Bradley Forintos will officiate. The burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The visiting hours will be on Wednesday – December 3, 2025 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm in the Jowett Funeral Home – 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Additional visiting will be on Thursday – December 4, 2025 from 10:30am until time of mass at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be – Stephen P. Young, Bradford I. Young, Timm J. Lenn, Keith Gurnsey, Russell J. Martindale, William R. Cusac, Lance M. Cusac and Peter A.J. Martindale. Honorary pallbearer will be Nathaniel J. Young. Memorial contributions can be made to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Holy Trinity Parish-St Joseph Catholic Church or Blue Water Area Humane Society.
