Charles H. Rivers

Charles H. Rivers, most often known as and called (Red Eagle or C.H.) was born August 1, 1955 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. He was the 19th child & baby boy born to the late Sidney and Julia B. Rivers who preceded him in death. He received his initial education through the Chesterfield, South Carolina School District before relocating to Michigan where he resided in New Haven and continued his education at the New Haven School District. He also spent many years and much of his life living in the Mt. Clemens and the Chesterfield area. Beyond completing his education here in Michigan he made a long-term career as an Over the Road Truck Driver which he enjoyed very much and often told the family many stories about his career and traveling journeys and the pride he took in driving those 18 & 24 wheelers. Charles leaves to cherish his loving wife Shirley Rivers, his children: Cassandra Goins, Charles Simmons, Robert Bennet, Veronica (David) Woods, Felicia Rivers, Sarah (Shannon) Tuff, and Travis Rivers, and stepson, Samuel James Wilson. He also leaves to cherish his grandchildren; Zachariah D. Goins, Ryan Tyler Goins, Tristin Goins, Nathan Simmons, Khloe Hibbs, Daveon Graham, Danez Bennet, Da’tasja Bennet, Solijai Dai Bennet, Robert Bennet Jr, Carmelo Bennet, Terrance D. Hannah Jr., Shai’Kayla A. Hannah, Cervonte A. Tuff, Shannah M. Tuff, and Castana N. Tuff and his three siblings; Maxie (Savalia) Rivers of Port Huron, Diane (James) Hines of Charlotte, NC, and Julia Abner of Mt. Clemens. He was preceded in death by 15 his siblings, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well as his sister-in-law Jale’ Smith, and step-grandson, Nathaniel Wilson. He enjoyed spending time with his family, children, grandchildren, and motorcycle club along with riding his Chopper, fishing, camping and traveling with his wife. C.H. was loved by so many all near and far and will be greatly missed by his remaining siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We all thank him for his special way of loving each one of us back in his own individual way and we honor him for paving the way for so many of us, yes indeed! Anyone that knew him knew that he was a proud man who did everything he was big and bad enough to do without hesitation! Our true Warrior of the family who stood tall & strong for each one of us never hesitating to protect his family saying the words (“You Dog on Skippy”…..) with a big grin on his face! We the family will all stand boldly and carry on his legacy until we see him again someday you best believe. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Jowett Funeral Home – 57737 Gratiot, New Haven. Reverend Arthur Turner of Greater New Hope will officiate. Visiting will be from 12:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm.
