Barbara "Jean" Brown

Barbara “Jean” Brown, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 28, 2024. Jean was born October 14, 1937, in Carsonville. She grew up in Port Huron, where she met George Brown, who would eventually become her husband. They were married on December 11, 1961, in Alexandria, Virginia and celebrated 63 blessed years together. Jean began married life as an Army wife living in Michigan, California, Illinois, Virginia, and Germany. After settling in Michigan, with her husband, George, Jean worked at Faith Medical Center, as a housekeeper with her best friend Gloria. Together they were known as “Laverne and Shirley”. She also worked at Troy Dry Cleaners, as a presser, until she decided to be a full-time stay at home mom. Jean had a strong faith in God and was a devoted member of the Salvation Army Church. She enjoyed many activities and hobbies including trips up north, boat rides, traveling, playing card games, puzzle books, watching true crime shows, listening to Elvis and Motown music, and collecting angels. Jean’s greatest joy was being a devoted and loving mother to her three children: Mary (Richard) Stotler, George (Rebecca) Brown and Rick (Jeannine) Brown, all will deeply miss her. Jean was a devoted and loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren: George Arthur Wells Brown, James Sawdon, Amanda (Bruce) Brittain, Paul (Mariah) Fenton, Sarah (Derrick) Stotler, Christopher Stotler, and James Howe, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jean was an animal lover and was “Mom” to Buster, Lollipop and O.C. Jean was preceded in death by her parents John and Iva (Pieffer) Bechtel, brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Isabel Bechtel, brother, Dale Krenke, brother-in-law, Robert Brown, childhood friend, Winnie Colgan, best friend, Gloria and friend, Tom Morris. Jean will be missed by close friends; the Morris family, Sue and Mike Kinyon, Tom, Sandy and Joe Cieski, Ron and Nancy Kleeves, Cheryl Ferguson, Dale and Val Ravin and Roland and Carol Frenette. Jean’s family would like to give special thanks to Compassus Hospice Care and nurses: Rebecca, Victoria, Christine, Paige and Brittany, also Chaplin Barringer. Services will be private.
