Marilyn E. Jones

July 31, 1933 - December 12, 2021

Marilyn (Muggy) E. Jones, passed away on December 12, 2021 in the Church of Christ Care Center, Clinton Twp. She was born July 31, 1933 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel (Haight) Jones. Muggy was a 1951 graduate of New Haven High School and remained life-long friends of her classmates, enjoying regular lunch dates, meeting at vacation homes (North & South) and annually at the New Haven High School Alumni Banquet. Muggy played on the New Haven 1951 girls All-State basketball team and was thrilled when she was inducted into the New Haven Sports Hall of Fame in later years. A member of he Northeast Church of Christ, Eastpointe, where she accepted the Lord as her Savior through the guidance of her cherished friend, Ollie Bateman. Muggy enjoyed her years of employment retiring from New Haven Community Schools Transportation in 1993. After moving from New Haven, she lived in St. Clair Shores and wintered in Florida. Her interests included hunting, snowmobiling and all sports while at her cabins in Atlanta and Lewiston. Muggy had a soft spot in her heart for all animals and will be greatly missed by her dog, Tinker. Muggy is survived by her dear long-time friends the Bateman family, also nieces, and cousins from New Haven and Lapeer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Jowett Funeral Home - 57737 Gratiot, New Haven. Pastor Michael McDonald from First Congregational Church, New Haven, will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00am until time of service, at 3:00pm. Memorial Tributes can be made to the Church of Christ Care Center, Clinton Twp., or First Congregational Church, New Haven and will be greatly appreciated.
