Margaret Mathis

August 16, 1931 - February 19, 2022

Margaret “Marge” Mathis, age 90, of Marysville, passed away on February 19, 2022, in the Blue Water Hospice Home. She was born on August 16, 1931, in Detroit, to the late Paul and Anna Zawidzki. She married Robert L. Mathis on September 12, 1953, in Detroit. Marge and Bob were a very loving couple, they met at a Big Boy Restaurant in 1951. They enjoyed spending all their time together and loved being at their home on Big Manistique Lake. Marge began working for the Detroit News, in the classified advertising department, at the age of 18, retiring after 20 years of service. Marge and Bob enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, and dining at the Big Boy and Cracker Barrel restaurants, together. Marge is survived by, her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Robert “Bob” Mathis, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Remo) Panella of Mt. Pleasant, brother-in-law, James (Elaine) Mathis of Algonac, sister-in-law, Patricia Mathis of Ira Township, along with several nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by, her sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Erwin Kot, nephew, Matthew Kot, brother-in-law, Edward Mathis and sister-in-law, Pauline. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:00am in the Jowett Funeral Home – 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron. Pastor Shaun Laurain will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp. Visitation will be on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Saturday, from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am.
