May 3, 1943 - November 1, 2021
Born in Sandstone West Virginia May 3,1943-Nov 1,2021 Loretta passed peacefully while sleeping at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mt. Clemens Michigan. She was a fun loving, Christian homemaker who loved to cook, sew, crochet, create unique photo albums, garden, work puzzles, write poetry, sing, and walk in the woods. She was a social butterfly who loved to laugh. She never met a stranger that did not become a friend. Loretta loved children and became known as, “Mrs. Flower”, “Gram”, or “Grandma Shoup”, to many old and young. Her nickname was “Red”, and she was a “no-nonsense” woman. She told it like it was, without much of a filter. Loretta looked forward to campground reunions and pot-luck dinners. Traveling to the “Country Roads”, of West Virginia and the “Hills of Tennessee”, held her fondest memories. At one time in earlier days, Loretta was known as the “Queen”, of AA. She helped bring many to gain their sobriety and always spoke of her savior, “Jesus Christ”. She will be missed dearly by her loving, compassionate and patient Husband of 58 Years, Richard V. Shoup and their two beloved daughters, Denise Cook and Deborah Vamvas and son-in-law, Nicholas, grandchildren: Jacob and Amy, Justin, Clarissa, Lauren, Joshua, Jessica, Carla, Ashley, and Kevin, great grandchildren: Isiah, Zachary, Lucy, Luke and two great grand-babies soon to be born. Loretta had twenty, “dear to her heart”, nieces and nephews. Beloved by four outstanding sisters, Ulaine, Elginia, Jane, and Joyce, her wonderful brother, Claude (Mary), sister’s in law; Carol, JoAnn, Pam (Paul). She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Zelma Pauline & Paul Ford Richmond, Joseph & Bernice Licavolli, and brother, Darrell Richmond. Loretta looked forward to reuniting with all, but none more so then with her ”partner in crime”, ultimate prankster, brother in law, James Moore, AKA "Jimmy Jawles”!! The fun they must be having now. Heaven help us ALL❤️ Please join us on June 18, 2022 - to Celebrate the Life of Loretta Shoup. Potlucks were a favorite of Loretta’s, so please bring a dish to pass!! BBQ and beverages will be provided. Please save the date and RSVP to Denise @ 586-383-1811 by May 21,2022. Venue will be given at that time. We hope to see all that loved her come with your stories and fond memories to pass as well!! Loretta cremains will be taken to her birthplace, to be shared by, her loving family, in West Virginia, in The Hills of Tennessee and here at her home, in Michigan. Arrangements in care of Jowett Funeral Home – New Haven.
