Juan Gonzales

November 24, 1929 - February 19, 2022

Juan R. Gonzales, 92, of Port Huron, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 while at home surrounded by family. He was born November 24, 1929 in Bastrop, Texas to the late Benjamin S. and Magdalena (Rodriguez) Gonzales. He married Cirila “Lela” Villalpando on September 11, 1954 in Port Huron, Michigan. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2013. Juan was a very hard-working man; he was employed at Northgate Ford before retiring and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. He enjoyed watching classic western films, listening to traditional Mexican music, traveling throughout Michigan and Texas to spend time with family and friends and enjoyed going to the movies. He is survived by sons John (Lupe) Gonzalez of Killeen, Texas and Richard (Carol) Gonzales of Port Huron, Michigan; grandchildren Deanna (Clint) Nesmith, Adrianna and Michelle Gonzalez, Victor Espinoza, Shelby and Austin Gonzales; 1 great-granddaughter, Natalia Rose Nesmith and several nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores “Lola” Gonzales, and siblings Manuel, Eduardo, Crespin and Albert Gonzales and Virginia Martinez. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 12:00pm, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1331 7th Street, Port Huron. Visiting with family will take place an hour prior to mass. Burial to take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Cremation arrangements in care of, Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron.
