Hazel A. Caldwell

November 13, 1925 - February 15, 2022

Hazel Audrey (Johnson) Caldwell of Port Huron was surrounded by loved ones as she went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022, at the age of 96 years old. Hazel was born to George Johnson and Edith Minnie Henderson on November 13, 1925 in the little town of Ingersoll in the Canadian providence of Ontario. She and her eight brothers and sisters lived a modest childhood on their family farm. On August 30, 1977, Hazel went on to become a naturalized citizen of the United States. After moving to the United States, she married Howard Caldwell Sr. and began devoting her life as a homemaker to her six children. Aside from investing in her children, Hazel also bestowed her life to Christ. Her love for Jesus guided her through the many wonderful years she spent supporting her family. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family at Lighthouse beach, family barbeques with her siblings in Canada, and listening to gospel singers like Mahalia Jackson, jazz artists like B.B. King, and rhythm and soul musicians like Aretha Franklin. She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sons Duane and Richard Caldwell, sister Doris Johnson, and five brothers: Robert Johnson, George Johnson Jr., James Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Guy Johnson, and three siblings who were lost in infancy. Our beloved Hazel is survived by five children: Elaine Ward (Delbert), Howard Caldwell Jr., Carol “Debbie” Valentine (Willie), Kenneth Caldwell Sr. (Yvette), and Pamela Kidd; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-children, 7 great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Private family services will take place. Arrangements in care of, Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron.
