August 13, 1951 - August 5, 2021
Cheryl Ann Hill passed away peacefully on the morning of August 5, 2021 at age 69, following a courageous 8-month battle with cancer. Cheryl was born in Neguanee on August 13, 1951 to parents, Charles and Helen (Saarinen) Hill, who preceded her in death. She was raised in Covington and graduated from L’anse High School in the upper pennisula, where she acquired her love of all things nature…even the icy cold water of Lake Superior. Cheryl balanced family life with late husband, Philip Hutula, while working and continuing her education, obtaining her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus. Her compassion extended beyond her practice to everyone she met and knew. Cheryl’s fun-loving, adventerous spirit was undeniably contacious and was evidenced with her passion for travel. A memorable cross-country motorcycle trip with her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Don Poupore, and late “husband and partner in crime,” Gerald Hoganson, was just one of many examples. Always up for destinations—domestic and abroad—as well as impromptu road trips, Cheryl truly loved traveling with family and friends, always embodying the “Adventure Awaits” attitude. Cheryl is survived by her children Todd (Sylvia) Hutula of Detroit and Jill (Mike) Fraeyman of Chesterfield, grandchildren Chloe, Domonique, Hannah and Tia, great grandchildren, Adrianne and Tayshaun, sister, Judy (Don) Poupore, niece and nephew, Angie (Travis) Reamer and Ryan (Kristi) Poupore, and many beloved friends. A private service and burial will take place at the Covington Cemetery. Donations to the Blue Water Hospice Home in Marysville are being requested in lieu of flowers or gifts. Arrangements in car of Jowett Funeral Home - New Haven.
