William Richard “Rick” Scott June 30, 1947 – July 23, 2026 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Richard “Rick” Scott on July 23, 2026, at the age of 79. Rick passed away from complications of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a hereditary genetic condition affecting the lungs and liver. Rick was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and deep devotion to his family. Though reserved in manner, those who knew him well understood the depth of his loyalty, kindness, and steadfast commitment to the people he loved. He lived his life with a strong sense of responsibility and led by example in all that he did. From a young age, Rick demonstrated a strong work ethic, beginning his working life in his father’s hardware store in Scarborough. He was also an accomplished swimmer and lifeguard, later serving as Chief Lifeguard at Q Beach during the 1960s and early 1970s. Those years reflected both his appreciation for the outdoors and his dedication to the safety and well-being of others. In 1975, Rick began his long and distinguished career with Scotiabank. Through dedication, professionalism, and steady leadership, he advanced within the organization, ultimately serving as Director of International Automotive. He retired in 2009 after more than three decades of service. Outside of his professional life, Rick found great joy in his family and in the simple pleasures of everyday life. The family cottage on Lake Kasshabog held a particularly special place in his heart and was the setting for many treasured family memories. Time spent at the cottage—by the water, in quiet reflection, or gathered with loved ones—remained among his most cherished experiences. Rick was a lifelong sports enthusiast. Hockey was one of his greatest passions, and he took great pride in coaching his sons’ teams, where he shared not only his love of the game but also enduring lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. In later years, he remained a devoted hockey fan. He also enjoyed curling with his team at the Scarboro Golf and Country Club and was an avid golfer who valued both the challenge of the game and the companionship it provided. Above all, Rick was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, and friend whose steady presence, quiet wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. His legacy endures in the values he instilled and in the many lives he touched throughout his life. Rick is lovingly remembered by his wife, Zoe Lambros, and his three sons, Adam Scott, Kevin Scott, and Adrian Scott, and his grandchildren, Chandra and Austin Scott. He is also remembered by extended family, lifelong friends, and former colleagues who will hold his memory with great affection and respect. Though his life was marked by the challenges of a genetic illness, Rick faced them with courage and dignity. He will be remembered not for his illness, but for the strength, humility, generosity, and love with which he lived. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Services will be private.
