Mrs. Virginia May VanConant

Virginia May VanConant, born May 5, 1936, to Clarence and Estelle (Florkey) VanConant of Peck, MI. Virginia passed away on August 20, 2020, at the age of 84, at United Hospice of Marlette. Virginia was a proud mom to 4 children: Rex, Randy, Sandra and Daniel. She worked hard her entire life, Virginia retired from Ametek Manufacturing, Peck MI. Throughout her life she was passionate about her family, friends, and her love of horses. Virginia’s favorite color was blue. She loved to trail ride while listening to country western music and enjoyed a cold Coors Light. She was a longtime member of the American Legion in Croswell and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Croswell. She will be sadly missed by the loved ones that she leaves behind. Her survivors include her son, Randy Chappel, his wife and Virginia’s caregiver, Rhonda of Lexington, daughter, Sandra Holland of California, brother, Duane (Patsy) VanConant and sister, Joni (Dick) Baron, grandchildren, Jason Teets, Shannon Batz, Jack Levitte, Alex Holland, Daniel Holland and Jamie Kraemer. Virginia is also survived by her dog, Skippy, who is living with Uncle Fudd and Aunt Rhonda. In addition to her many nieces and nephews, she is survived by two special nieces, Marjorie Wilson and Tina Machowicz who spent many hours visiting her in her last months. She is also survived by her special friend and “daughter” Brenda Alexander. Virginia and Brenda could be found together many weekends either horseback riding or golf card riding on the back roads of Peck. Virginia also leaves behind a long list of special friends that will always have fond memories of their time spent together. She had wonderful neighbors and loved baking for all the people she loved. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Rick in 1986 and Daniel in 1998; sister, Margie Smith in 2007 and brothers, Clarence VanConant in 2019 and Hank VanConant in 2020. Virginias cremains will be buried between her two sons in a private cemetery at a later date. We wish to thank Hospice for the wonderful attention she received while in their care.
