Terry L. DeWalt

Terry Lee DeWalt age 81, of Port Huron and Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away Tuesday November 22nd, 2022. Terry was born in Nashville, TN, on July 4th, 1941, and moved to Detroit as a child. He served in the United States Navy, and remained in the reserves after his discharge. Following his military service, Terry graduated from the Detroit Police Academy. Initially he served with the Hazel Park Police Department, then joined the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, where he served for 22 years prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed golf, Red Wings Hockey, and karaoke. He loved going on cruises with his wife, Dian. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Renzy Doyle (Sullivan County, PA), mother, Lula Irene Mangrum (Nashville, TN), his loving wife, Dian (Gurnsey), sister, Dolores Brasgalla, and step-son, Michael Corwin. He is survived by his five children, Raymond (Audra) DeWalt, Teresa DeWalt-Stovall, Laurie (Andrew) Morch, Jackie (Brad) DeWalt-Hasenfratz and James DeWalt, two step children, Laureen Morana (Corwin), and Jeffery Corwin, and his brother, Robert Milczarski. Grandfather to Cody Stovall, Cameron DeWalt, Morgan (Timothy) Moutrie, Jake DeWalt, Nicholas Morch, Sydney Hasenfratz, Jack Morch, Abigail Hasenfratz, Jeff Corwin, Danielle Cernuto, Kaylee Corwin, Jonathan Weinman, Christina Weinman, Michelle Weinman and 9 great grandchildren. Loved by many nieces and nephews, and friend to many. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Monday November 28th, 2022, at the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Minister Shaun Laurain will officiate. Visiting hours will be 11:00am – 3:00pm on Monday. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery. Pallbears will be Jake DeWalt, Cody Stovall, Nick Morch, Jack Morch, Sydney Hasenfratz and Abbey Hasenfratz. St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors along with the United States Navy. The Jowett Funeral Home is privileged to serve the DeWalt family.
