Raymond John Johnson

Raymond John Johnson, age 75 of Kenockee Twp, passed away July 22, 2026. He was born February 27, 1951 to the late Richard and Mary “Eileen” Johnson. He was raised on the family farm in Kenockee Township, Michigan, where he was the second youngest of seventeen children. Ray volunteered for the United States Army in 1971 and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He proudly served until 1974. During this time Ray earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and most importantly, his Bronze Star, that he was very proud of. Ray was a lifelong VFW Member in Emmett, Michigan. Following his Honorable discharge, Ray started his thirty-year career at Stroh’s. “He completed his last delivery. Heaven finally has a cold beer on tap and someone who actually knows how to back the truck up”. While Ray loved the quiet of the woods, his greatest reward came when he found his hunting partner for life, Kathy Tackaberry. Ray and Kathy married in 2004, and spent thirty-seven wonderful years together, filling the freezer from the family farm and trying to out do each other with the biggest buck. To his stepdaughters; Jennifer and Amanda, Ray was a wealth of information, and he liked to educate them on any subject they approached him with. “Ray Ray” is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Johnson, stepdaughters; Jennifer (Tony) Perotti and Amanda (Joel) Trupp, grandchildren, Ryan Trupp, Grace Moody, Robert (Lacey) Moody, Kacee Perotti, Blake Trupp, Kiera Perotti, Cailyn Trupp, Trevor Trupp, Tommy Perotti and AJ Perotti, six great grandchildren, siblings; Sister June Johnson IHM, Helen (Jerry) Werthman, Janet Maxwell, Suzanne Neaton, Ed (Debbie) Johnson, Ellen Brandon, Mary Leigh (Larry) Powers, sister in law, Helen Johnson and brother in law, Bill Parrish. He was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Leroy Johnson, Dorothy Mahon, Russ (Penny) Johnson, Gail (George) Jacobson, Eileen (Bob) Kramer, Bruce (Ann) Johnson, Marion (Danny) Hillis, Madelyon Parrish, Lois (Jim) Hyde, Bruce Maxwell, Jerry Neaton and Bill Brandon.
