Nancy E. Klemmer

Nancy “NelE” Ellen (Ketchen) Klemmer passed away on the morning of October 2, 2022 after a short fight with pancreatic & liver cancer. She was born August 22, 1955 to LCDR Alfred J. and Joan P. (Bouchard) Ketchen in Brunswick, Maine. She met the love of her life, Gary Alan Klemmer in college and they married on April 15, 1978. Gary and Nan raised their family in Lakeport, MI and spent many years camping, boating and enjoying the outdoors. Nancy proudly worked for Port Huron Hospital/McLaren PH for 37 years; 25 years as a Respiratory Therapist and the remainder for Port Huron Hospital Foundation becoming the Director of the Foundation her last 5 years before retirement. She served on the Community Foundation Women’s Initiative Board, St. Clair County Community Alumni Board, Hunter Hospitality Board of Directors. As a Fort Gratiot Rotary member she and Gary participated in the International Exchange Student program and hosted Klara Pelemiš from Zagreb, Croatia lovingly referred to as their “daughter from afar.” Nan still considered her greatest accomplishment being the mom to Jason and Leigh Klemmer. She repeatedly said that they were a joy to raise and she considered herself blessed to have them in her life. She is survived by her loving husband Gary, sons Jason Alan (Marissa) Klemmer, Atlanta, GA and Leigh Ashlind (Elizabeth) Klemmer, Nashville, TN Grandchildren; Austin, Mallory, Whitney, Maeve and Cadence (Nellie) Klemmer. Her siblings Joyce Ketchen, (Charlotte, N.C) Pamila Alley, (Trenton, Maine) and Alfred (Julie) Ketchen, (Poland Springs, Maine), and brother-in-law Bernie Coe, (Oswego, NY), as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be October 8th at 10:00am to 11:00am at the Colonial Woods Missionary Church, 3240 Pine Grove Avenue, Port Huron, memorial service to follow. Cremation arrangements in the care of the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. In lieu of flowers, it was Nancy's request that donations be made in her honor to a local organization that personally meant a lot to her. Happy Day Fishing Camp is a non-profit day camp for that invests in disabled children and Wounded Warriors through the joy of fishing. – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
