Kristine A. Meilstrup

Kristine Ann Meilstrup, age 74, of Port Huron Township, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 in her home unexpectedly. She was born on November 16, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Spencer and Barbara Meilstrup. For 74 years, her love for family was always apparent with her first loves being her children; Jimmy, Barbie, Dotti, and Tiffany. She was more than happy to be the central figure in her children’s lives. Anyone that knew them, quickly grew to love Kristine. Kristine, with her infectious personality was loved by all. She was extremely proud of her girls and ever so grateful to have had the time she did to watch them grow. They were her pride and joy. When Kristine started to get grandchildren, the sparkle in her eyes grew with a smile that never left her face. “Grandma-ma” showed up for everything. Whether rain or shine, she was there for all her grandkids. Kristine attended every dance recital, hockey game, music performance, and softball game with the intent of letting everyone know at the event just who her grandchild was. To say she was proud of them is an understatement. She never showed up out of obligation. Kristine showed up because of who she was as a mom, grandma, and as a friend. Aside from her family, Kristine adored her friends and valued every person that crossed paths with her. She loved getting together and meeting up with her former classmates, “The girls of 67” Anyone who met Kristine could not forget her infectious passion for people or her passion for maine coon cats. At 74 full years of life, Kristines journey on earth has come to an end. She has been reunited with her son, Jimmy in heaven who she missed every day. Kristines love and genuine kindness will never be forgotten by any and all who have crossed paths with her. Kristine worked for Community Mental Health for 25 years before retirement and was a member of the Cat Fanciers Association. She made lifelong friendships that she cherished and will be deeply missed by all. Especially her cats that were as dear to her as her children. She is survived by her daughters; Barbara Eady, Dotti Bailey and Tiffany (Kevin) Sanderson; brother, John (Teresa) Meilstrup; nephew, Spencer Meilstrup; grandchildren; Jennifer Horn, Dustin Courtney, Samantha Ireland, Taylor and Kyle Cook, Alexa and Jaden Bailey, and Madeline Sanderson; great-grandchildren; Ryder, Raine, Journi and Oaklin Meilstrup-Eady, and Heath and Harper Perry; best friend, Sally Stokan. She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Meilstrup. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 22 at 1:00pm in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Ave, Port Huron. Minister Shaun Laurain will officiate. Visiting hours will be Saturday, January 21 from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Sunday, an hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Pallbearers; John Meilstrup, Kyle Cook, Kevin Sanderson, Scotty Perry, Dustin Courtney, and Todd Ireland.
