Joseph "'Joe" Bauer

Joseph "Joe" Michael Bauer, age 85, of Richmond, passed away on May 8, 2023. He was born on December 6, 1937, in Detroit, to the late Aloysius and Clarette Bauer. He married Camellia A. Hondzinski on February 27, 1976, in Southfield. Joe was a man of many talents and hobbies. In his early life he attended seminary and was a catholic priest. He touched so many lives serving the Lord but decided he wanted to marry. He found the love of his life, Camille, and together they built a beautiful life based on God, family, and so much love. It was a natural transition for Joe to be a marriage and family therapist. He worked at St. Joseph’s hospital in Mt. Clemens. His work was rewarding and he was well liked in his profession. He was even the president of Michigan Marriage and Family Counseling. His true love though was spending time with family and friends. Whether it was playing hockey with his buddies and bringing his son Michael with him, coaching baseball and softball, out driving everyone on the fairways of his favorite golf courses, or playing euchre with his friends everything he did and everywhere he went his joy spread. He loved nature and even bought a small farm to take care of part time where he taught his kids the value of caring for animals and the land. His daughter Katrina loved going into the woods with him in the winter to cut wood to keep the house warm. Camping was something the family did every year and exploring more of Gods country through hiking was one of his favorite things to do and now his kids and grandkids love it too!! He had a knack for making anyone he met like they were the most important person to him and his family and grandkids always knew he would drop everything to help them out. His grandkids and great grandchild were his pride and joy and he made it a point not to miss anything. Joe lived a beautiful and blessed life that left a mark on anyone who met him. There’s no doubt his family will miss him, but the legacy he left behind of faith and family will live on forever. Joe is survived by his wife, Camille, children; Tamara (Mike) Kalisch, Michael Schukraft and Katrina (Neal) Todd, grandchildren; Shane Merritt, Jonathan (Emily Trevarrow) Todd, Nicholas (Miranda Novak) Todd, Ellaina Todd, Alyssa Todd, Caleb Todd, Skylar Schukraft and Christina Schukraft and great grandson, Roman Todd, brothers; Michael (Sandy) Bauer and Thomas (Cindy) Bauer, nieces, Jennifer Guerrieri, Sheila Cunningham, Tracey Memefee and Jonette Madsen and nephews, Josh Bauer, Dustin Kellogg and Jeff Cunningham. A memorial mass will be held on June 10, 2023 at 10:00am in the Holy Family Parish - 79780 Main St., Memphis.
