Mrs. Gloria M. Davis

Gloria Mabel Davis; age 85; of St. Clair, MI (formerly of Sterling Heights) passed away peacefully Friday night, October 5, 2012 in her home with her family by her side. Gloria was born on November 3, 1926 in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit in January of 1945. Gloria married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Charles A. Davis on December 22, 1945 and enjoyed 66 years and 10 months of married life. During World War II Gloria was a nurse’s aide at Henry Ford Hospital. Gloria was a remarkable homemaker who returned to the workforce when their only child was a junior in high school. She worked in the accounting department of a Detroit firm for 10 years. After Charlie retired, they moved to St. Clair where they became involved in many community activities. Gloria was active in St. Clair Township Senior Citizens. In addition to holding the office of Secretary for almost 20 years, she participated in Operation Coffee Break and the Blood Drive. She enjoyed participating in the Counsel on Aging’s Senior Olympics. Gloria supported her husband’s membership at the American Legion Post 449 by being an active volunteer for Easter, Christmas and Club 17 annual events. Gloria enjoyed playing Euchre on Wednesday’s for many years. She was a volunteer bell ringer for Salvation Army for several Christmas’. Gloria was a wonderful cook, seamstress and a heck of a great weed whacker and grass mower helping Charlie to maintain their 11 acre property. She was struck with Parkinson’s disease 7 years ago which eventually lead to her passing. Gloria was an elegant, loving and amazing lady who held a deep Christian faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Charles; their daughter, Carla and her husband of 45 years, John Terrill; three grandchildren: Yvonne Hummel, Scott Terrill and Jennifer Behringer; five great-grandchildren: Brandon, Christina, Kaitlyn, Trent and Samantha; and two great-great-grandchildren: Jacob and Gage. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. To respect Gloria’s wishes, funeral services will not be held. If you would like to honor her memory the family suggests donations to Blue Water Hospice who provided invaluable compassion and support for seven months prior to her passing.
