Geraldine "Gerri" (Boney) Shott

Geraldine "Gerri" (Boney) Shott, passed away early the morning of April 7th at the age of 86 and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was at home and surrounded by her family and had been in hospice care for the past two weeks. Gerri was born August 10, 1937 in Sampson County N.C. to Charlie and Alma Boney. She met the love of her life Leon Shott in 1957 in Wilmington, NC while he was stationed at Camp Lejeune. After 3 months of courtship, the couple was married in Conway, SC. They settled on the base where all three of their children were born and lived while Leon continued to be in the Marines. In 1964 Leon retired from the Marine Corps and the family moved back to his home town of Croswell, Mi. They lived in the Croswell area for the remainder of their 66 years of marriage. During their time in the Croswell area Leon and Gerri became very involved with the Croswell Wesleyan Church and developed a close relation ship with the Lord. Gerri was very involved in the “Bus Ministry” where she led many children to the Lord by making sure they had a ride to church each week on the bus. She was also very involved in the women’s bible ministry which was tagged the “coffee clutch ministry” They built life long relationships throughout the church & community. She could easily have worked outside the home ,but was totally committed to being a mother to her children and grandchildren. She always made people feel special. Gerri and Leon loved to dance, fish, ride snowmobiles, travel, visit friends/relatives……. And Golf! Gerri had three hole-in-ones over her golf career! For years they would make an annual trip to Gerri’s hometown and visit “the relatives” in North Carolina on their way to Florida. The family would like to thank all of the friends and family that have stopped by over the past two weeks to share, love, time and stories with the family. We are particularly grateful for Residential Hospice and their unbelievable help and expertise over the past two weeks. Gerri is survived by her husband Leon, two daughters Teela (Gene) Jones and Lanae (Mike) Kettlewell. Grandchildren Jason VanDerMaas, Jennifer (Mike) Holes, Katy (Ryan) Needham, Dane ( Tricia)Brockett, and Dustin Brockett. Step Grandchildren Adam (Kate) Kettlewell & Austin Kettlewell. 12 Great Grandchildren and two sisters Faye Peterson & Ann Larsen. A brother Charles (Doris) Ray Boney. Brother-in-Laws Tom Donaghy and Jim (Carol) Shott. Sister-in-Law Vicky Shott. She was preceded in death by her Son Edward No Funeral service will be held, per the request of Geraldine. Memorials can be made to the Croswell Wesleyan Church or Residential Hospice of Lapeer, MI in Geraldine’s name. Arrangements in care of Jowett Funeral Home - Port Huron.
