Dr. Frederick W. Coop M.D.

Frederick William “Bill” Coop. M.D., age 64, of Burtchville, MI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Blue Water Hospice Home in Marysville. He was born March 6, 1957, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Charles William Adrian Coop and Barbara Ann (Harcourt) Coop. Bill graduated from East Elgin Secondary School in 1976 and completed his pre-medical and medical school education at the University of Western Ontario in 1982. Bill went on to do his rotating internship at St. Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia in Vancouver followed by his residency and becoming Chief Resident, Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada in 1990. Bill also went to Pettawawa, Ontario for his basic training and served with the Canadian Armed Forces in Nova Scotia. In 1993, Bill came from Canada to the United States and joined the practice, X-Ray Associates of Port Huron, P.C. until November, 2020. During this period, Dr. Coop had associate and active staff positions at various local hospitals as well as served in many roles of leadership and advanced education. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed reading classical books and spending time on his amateur radios. In addition, he enjoyed and was fortunate enough to have traveled the world and especially enjoyed his many scuba diving expeditions which included being a Master Scuba Trainer for many years. Bill is survived by his two sons, Charles “Bill” Coop of Brooklyn, New York and Thomas Coop of San Pedro, California; sisters Laura (Roger) Ferguson of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and Dr. Anne (Keith) Howe of Aylmer, Ontario, Canada; niece Sara Howe; nephews Craig Howe and John Adam Ferguson; and grandniece Emma Ferguson. A celebration of life will take place 5:00pm Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Visiting hours will take place from 3:00pm until the time of service at 5:00pm. There will be a luncheon following services in the Jowett Funeral Home Reception Center.
