Erwin B. Rosentreter

Erwin B. Rosentreter of Port Huron, our beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 20, 2021. He was 91 years old. Erwin was born and raised in Kirshappen, Germany. He was the second oldest of four children. Erwin always tried to look for new opportunities to grow and achieve his best. So when the opportunity arose to come to the United States, he was the only one in his immediate family to make the move. This was in 1957 when he was 27 years old. When he finally settled in Port Huron, he met and then married Alvina C. Schmidt on September 8, 1962. They shared 59 wonderful years together. Erwin and Alvina have two daughters, Lisa Rosentreter of Port Huron and Kathy Rosentreter of Frankenmuth. His family might have been small in numbers, but they were the biggest and most important part of his life. Erwin was a very wise and quiet man. However, he enjoyed a good laugh. Erwin was also a hard working man, who held a variety of jobs until he began his career as a carpenter. His eye for detail and his desire for perfection lead to his success. Aside from work, he loved to travel and go for walks both outside and on his treadmill. Erwin also loved working outside around the yard and in his garden. He was a lifelong Lutheran and a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Besides his wife and two daughters, he is survived by his sister, Elly Krause of Germany and several nieces and nephews both in Germany and the United States. Erwin was preceded in death by his parents, Hermann and Else (Seidel) Rosentreter; his in-laws, Albert and Elsie Schmidt; a brother, Gerhard Rosentreter; a brother and sister-in-law, Rudi and Hilda Rosentreter; brother-in-law, Gerhard Krause; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charles and Loretta Thrushman, Edwin and June McCoy, William and Violet Keil, Ernest and Carolyn Schmidt, and Howard and Lynden Schmidt. The family has chosen to have a private service with just the immediate family.
