Donald R. Beckman

Donald Raymond Beckman, age 72, passed away on June 6, 2026. Don was born in Mount Clemens on May 6, 1954, to Arthur "Skip" Beckman and Roseann Beckman (Beauvais). Don was a proud graduate of Anchor Bay High School, where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Rae Ann Sparger. The two were married on January 30, 1976, and shared 50 years of marriage of love, partnership, and family. Don began his working career as a cook at Henry's in Algonac before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit and founding Beckman Construction. Through hard work and determination, he built a respected business serving the community. After closing the business in the early 1990s, he continued his career with Deltra Industrial, where he worked until his retirement. Above all, Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He and Rae were blessed with three children: Nicholas (Heather), Brian (Erin), and their only daughter, Laura (Michael). One of Don's greatest joys in life was being a grandfather-or "Ompa"- to his six beloved grandchildren: Keegan, Dominic, Lydia, Julia, Avery, and Oliver. He treasured every moment spent with them and was always proud of their accomplishments. Don was always working with his hands. Whether he was tinkering on a project in his garage, fixing something around the house, or helping family and friends with repairs, he could always be counted on to lend a hand. He had a deep appreciation for music, enjoyed taking drives in his truck with the radio turned up, and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Detroit Lions (Go Lions). Through years of loyalty and optimism, he remained a dedicated fan (even through the ’08 season), always believing that next season could be the season. Those who knew Don will remember his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, his sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. His presence, guidance, and steady support will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew and loved him. Don is survived by his loving wife, Rae Ann; his children, Nicholas (Heather), Brian (Erin), and Laura (Michael); his grandchildren, Keegan, Dominic, Lydia, Julia, Avery, and Oliver; His siblings Rose (Lloyd), Doris (Joseph), and Butch (Nannette), along with many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur "Skip" Beckman and Roseann Beckman, his brothers Robert, Joseph, and sister Theresa. There will be a memorial to celebrate his life later this summer.
