Carl D. Johnson

Carl Douglas Johnson, 56, of Port Huron Township MI, passed away Thursday May 22, 2025 at his Michigan home in the presence of his niece Hana (Haunani Johnson) & dear friends Melynda Tonton & Jimmy (James Pierce lll). Carl was born November 30th 1968 in Livonia MI to Eric & Jacquelyn Johnson. Carl loved his parents very much & they went above & beyond to support him… In addition to Carl’s parents he survived by his aunt Cindy (Robert) Dickson, cousin Danny Lee (Tracy) Diller, many outstanding long-term friends, brother Mark Johnson, sister Lisa Johnson, sister Lori Johnson, niece Hana (Haunani Johnson) & Hana’s sons (his grand nephews) Dencin, Otto & Makaio Gentry Johnson. Carl was preceded in death by his parents & his eldest sister Lori. Carl loved people & had many dear close longterm friends that made his life in Michigan much more enjoyable, he also made some friends the last few years in both Kona Hawaii & Clearwater FL that he cared a lot about. Carl was music obsessed & he liked it LOUD! You’d often hear him blasting Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys & Who. He also loved being outdoors whether in the woods hunting, out fishing, by a bonfire, on a beach, boat, or jet-ski. He also loved giving & therefore was a generous individual always looking to share what he had been blessed to receive. Carl admittedly made many choices in his life he had wished he could go back in time and do differently… of course that was not an option… but if you were ever negatively affected or hurt by him please know that he’d have taken it all back if he could’ve. Carl was very hurt by something disgusting & devastating he saw at a young age & he suffered from deep spiritual warfare because of it… unfortunately he never acquired the tools to fight off his demons & it changed the course of his life forever. Yet Carl still loved God & tried to be a better man, but often talked about how he fell short & feared death. He hoped by the grace of God that he’d make it to heaven… which is all we can hope & pray for him & for ourselves as well. For anyone reading this to its fullness: If you harbor any hate in your heart please remember that unforgiveness is one of the biggest barriers to being let into the Kingdom of Heaven… so I pray that anyone that has been hurt by Carl (or someone else in their life) will find it in their hearts to forgive so that they can meet the eternal father in heaven, our one true God. To honor Carl’s memory we are going to have a Celebration of Life at his home 4319 N. River Rd. Fort Gratiot MI 48059 on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 3pm & the schedule for the celebration will go as follows (with plans subject to fluctuate depending how long each thing takes): 3pm-4pm visiting & snacking 4-5 everyone in one room (or outdoors weather permitting) prayer & memory sharing one person at a time. 5-6 dinner 6-10pm Bonfire Please CARPOOL & BYOB RSVP to Haunani (810) 956-4190
