In Loving Memory of Billie Jean Perkins On July 27, 2026, our hearts were broken as we said goodbye to our mom, Billie Jean Perkins, at the age of 68. While we will miss her every day, we find comfort knowing she is at peace. Billie was born on April 24, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, to John William Allor and Billie Jean Alexiou (Allor). She spent her life showing kindness, compassion, strength and unwavering love to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Mom had a servant’s heart. She dedicated much of her career to helping others, working in education with Roseville Community Schools before moving to Port Huron and becoming a staff member at Day Treatment Night Watch. Whether she was caring for students, supporting those in need, she never looked for recognition. She simply believed that helping others was the right thing to do. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. It carried her through years of chronic illness and difficult days, yet she never let those struggles define her. Instead, she chose gratitude, hope, and love, always finding ways to encourage those around her. Above everything else, Mom loved her family. Her children were her greatest pride, and her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. Some of her greatest memories with her grandchildren are the simple ones—feeding the ducks together, fishing off the dock, annual birthday phone calls, toasting marshmallows over the fire , sleeping in the loft when spending the night, and their comfort and love when she struggled with her chronic illness. She had a way of making each of us feel loved and important. She found joy in life’s little things. She loved singing, watching musicals, gardening, crafting, decorating cakes, making homemade fudge, along with hosting church and family barbecues. She was rarely without a Tim Hortons double/double in her hand, and would make sure if you were coming over to visit, you brought her one! Later in life, Mom found happiness on the water after meeting her late fiancé, John “Jack” Moss, who introduced her to sailing. Those adventures became some of her most treasured memories. Jack was truly a foundation of love, and constant support. He loved her deeply, and loved all of her family. Mom is survived by her children: Richard Perkins (Danielle) of Dumfries, Virginia, Eric Perkins (Jill) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jamie Perkins-Mills of Memphis, Michigan. Her grandchildren include Taylor, Chloe, Ellie M., Mason, Ellie P., Madelyn, Airiana, Maisie, Wyatt, Wes, Remi and Ariel. She is also survived by her sisters Diana Greer, Mona Caple, Karla Salmons, Dawn Tremonte and Ellainia Allor. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Allor and Billie Jean Alexiou (Allor); her brother, John William Allor II; her sister, Jackie Lee Meade; and the love of her later years, John “Jack” Moss. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Billie’s life at Jowett Funeral Home 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Billie will be cremated following the service. One of Mom’s dreams was to visit Anna Maria Island, Florida. Although she never had the chance to make that trip during her lifetime, we will honor her by taking her there and spreading her ashes along its beautiful shoreline—a place she always dreamed of seeing. Mom taught us that love isn’t measured by grand gestures. It’s found in the small things like making her homemade fudge, a backyard barbecue, time spent with family, and always being there for someone who needed you. She lived a life of quiet service, unconditional love, and unwavering faith. We will carry her love with us always. Though our hearts are broken, we are incredibly grateful to have been blessed with such an amazing mom, grandmother (Moo / Nanny) , sister, and friend.
