Barbara J. Harrison

Barbara June Harrison, age 91 of Port Huron, passed away on January 31, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 26, 1932 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to the late George and Cleone Meyer. Barbara was a longtime administrative assistant in the Kalamazoo Public School System, prior to retiring and moving to the Port Huron area, where she met Cecil Harrison, while both were active members of the Jeddo United Methodist Church. The couple married in 2000 and she joined the wonderful Harrison Family. Barb enjoyed traveling with Cecil/family, attending the many family reunions of both her extended families, reading, raising all her cats throughout the years, solving all manners of puzzles. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren at their sporting events and attending the various cultural/social events, that they engaged in. Barbara and Cecil were actively involved with the Council on Aging and all the activities and events at Port Haven Manor. Barbara is survived by her three sons; James (Patsy) Myer, David (Deborah) Myer and Richard (Jill) Myer, five grandchildren; Matthew (Kate) Myer, Michael (Jessica) Myer, Devon (Christopher) Poma, Arielle (Travis) Mikita and Holly Myer, great grandchildren; Alexys June Poma, Ashlee Ray Poma, Christopher Alan Poma, Hudson Allen Myer, and Beau Richard Mikita, special niece, Ruth Hare, nephew, Michael (Shannon) Hare, her step children; Edward (Carole) Harrison, Linda Smith, James (Regina) Harrison, Kevin (Deborah) Harrison, Karolyn (Russell) Harrison, Elaine Heath, Mavis LeRud, her step grandchildren; Leslie (Shane) Slanec, Laurie (Robert) Letzgus, Heather Campbell, David Campbell, Alana Myer, Kyle (Keri) Harrison, Kelly (Arthur) Drennen, Joel Gauthier, James (Jenny) Harrison, Jeff (Lanah) Harrison, Stacey (Rodney) Osantowski, Kevin (Katie) Harrison, Christine Harrison, Michael Heath, Stephanie Heath, plus 30 step grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Peter (Mal) Meyer, sisters-in-laws, Fern Myer, Anne Myer, Avis Hale, Aleatha Johnson, brother-in-law; Ronald Harrison, plus many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Harrison, sister, Christine E. Hare and her brothers; Darwin (Don) Meyer, George Meyer Jr. and Richard Meyer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 12:00pm (Noon) in the Jowett Funeral Home – 1634 Lapeer Ave., Port Huron. Pastor Nathaniel D. Tucker will officiate. The burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Grant Township. Visiting hours will be on Monday – February 5, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Tuesday, from 11:00am until time of the service at Noon. In lieu of flowers – memorial contributions can be made to the Jeddo United Methodist Church, Blue Water Hospice or the Council on Aging.
