Annabelle Eileen Steward

Annabelle Eileen Steward, age 86, of Port Huron, passed away November 20, 2017 surrounded by her family. Annabelle was born January 13, 1931, in Freedom Twp., Ohio, to the late William and Edith Jeakle. She graduated from Fostoria High School in 1949. She married Raymond G. Steward in Fostoria, Ohio on July 29, 1950. They were married for 47 years before he preceded her in death on August 10, 1997. She lived 46 years in Ohio and 40 in Michigan. Still was still a diehard Buckeye fan. Annabelle was employed by the Council on Aging, Farm Bureau Insurance and H&R Block during tax season. In her younger years, Annabelle enjoyed being a Boy Scout den mother, a Springfield Little League girls’ softball coach and a band mother with the Hollandettes. She loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, gardening and traveling. In her later years she was instrumental in starting up and staying involved in the Better Breathers Club in Port Huron. Most of all, Annabelle enjoyed her family. She was truly blessed as her family grew over the years, and always took a genuine interest in her family’s well-being. She is survived by her four sons, Gary (Holly) Steward, Ron (Donna) Steward, Mike Steward, Doug (Becky) Steward and one daughter, Linda (Joseph – her favorite son in law) Majeske. Two children preceded her in death, Mary Beth on September 29, 1957 and Robert on June 5, 1971. She had eight grandchildren who adored her; Michelle, Nicole, Ryan, Kevin, Colin, Emily, Kersti and Hannah. She also had 7 great grandchildren; Trent, Taylor, Kamden, Braylon, Chloe, Jace and Cooper. She is also greatly missed by her two surviving brothers; George Jeakle (Holland, Ohio) and Bill Jeakle (Fostoria, Ohio). She also had a sister Kathryn who preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday in Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue, Port Huron. Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, November 25, 2017 with visitation an hour prior. Pastor Bill Kinnan will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Better Breathers Club, Port Huron.
